VSCCA Hunnewell Hillclimb 2008

Driving through Dedham in the pouring rain Friday afternoon did not bode well for the weekend. Hunnewell in recent years does not have a great track record for dry weather. Saturday morning, it stopped raining and by the time we were on our second run of the morning the road was dry and the sky was blue.

My sister Willow and I had come down from Maine on our annual pilgrimage to this great event overlooking Wellesley College. Having attended since we were in diapers it was a joy this year to have the use of my mother's Type 37 and for Willow to have her second year running the timing. As usual we had a great range of cars, with four Bugattis, four pre-war MG's and a variety of Ford powered specials.

Sunday was an extra treat as we journeyed west to visit the remains of Thompson Raceway. George Weaver's daughter greeted us with lunch and the chance to walk around. Ben Bragg gave us a very interesting route to lunch. The afternoon route back to Wellesley took us through a state forest on a fantastic road, just right for enjoying "Mom's Car". As always a great weekend and the weather was beautiful the whole time.
