The Vintage Sports Car Club of America lost a friend last night. Charlie Gibson, friend, instructor, champion, former event chairman and director of the club, passed away on the evening of the 3rd of February.
The cause was a tragic accident.
We don't know much else at this point. There will be time soon to write more about his impact on so many of us it 's simply too hard right now.   The muse who inspires writers is still weeping at the news.

We offer our sincere sympathies to his family, his friends, and his team at Sasco. Further details will be posted when available

The vintage racing community and our Club mourn the death of our good friend Charlie Gibson.
A man of boundless energy and enthusiasm, Charlie contributed to the sport we enjoy in countless ways. Just two vignettes: - In the early years of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix the two Sasco Sports Lola Mk 1s swiftly and impeccably driven by Charlie and his friend and associate Dave Handy used to swap places each year, they and their graceful little cars putting on a display of skill and sportsmanship for the crowds lining this most unforgiving course. And not so much a vignette as a continuum - Charlie's leadership of the VSCCA contingent that managed the Lime Rock Fall Vintage Festival for some 17 years helped that event attain national stature and be good fun in the bargain. After moving his business down to the VIR area, Charlie never forgot his roots up in the northeast and would show up at Lime Rock for events with a truck loaded with Dunlops and a Lola tucked into a corner and a handshake and a smile and a good word for all his myriad friends. Our hearts go out to his family and his associates. We will all miss him.
