Update 6/15/05
With only four weeks until the PVGP, the event and grid are shaping up quite nicely. Drivers and crew members entering this year's event can expect the same great venue, fantastic European style street course racing and, of course, the gracious welcome and hospitality of the people and city of Pittsburgh.
There are a few additions this year by way of Paddock amenities to better assist you and acknowledge your efforts to put on this amazing World Class race, starting with designated trailer parking, particularly for the larger rigs and an attempt to paddock groups together. Friday registration, all race related information, results, questions and driver's meetings will take place at the VSCCA Race Control Headquarters tent located at the entrance to the Paddock. Included with your entry and through out the weekend, starting Friday morning there will be light breakfast fare as well as lunch, served at the VSCCA Race Control tent. Also included are a Friday evening Driver's Reception Dinner and a Saturday evening dinner at the PVGP Race Control tent located at the Hot Pit Out area. There will be Driver/Crew Hospitality tents located through out the Paddock with complimentary refreshments available during all 3 days as well as shuttle golf carts in the paddock area, and shuttle buses for the Saturday evening dinner to transport you to and from the Wyndham Gardens Hotel (our host hotel with special VSCCA rates). There will be several Paddock tours daily, organized by Peter Krause, a seperateVSCCA Race Control p.a. system for Paddock-only announcements, U.S. and European press coverage, the great Jake "Best Drive in Class" awards as well as other special awards during the weekend. All this and more is planned to make you, the drivers of our wonderful vintage race cars, feel more welcome, cared for and appreciated.
The grids have filled quickly, but there is room for more so if you have not sent in your entry form and would like to participate, the club has graciously waived the late entry fee. Don't miss this event. It promises to be the best this season. See you at Pittsburgh.
All the best,
Dave

Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix

This year marks the 23rd running of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix and it promises to be the most spectacular ever. The Grand Prix is the culmination of 9 days of racing and auto related festivities with something for every car enthusiast.

The weekend of July 9th and 10th is the Pittsburgh Vintage Festival of Speed with George Vapaa, the VSCCA Event Chairman, followed by a week of gala dinners, parties, car shows and a rally (see more at www.pittsburghvintagegrandprix.com) and reaches its crescendo with the Grand Prix. New participants will find the 2.3mile course, run on the public streets of Schenley Park (closed for us on race days) very challenging. There are 19 turns, including 2 hairpins, stonewalls, curbs, fountains, bridges and beautiful lawns filled with spectators (100,000 last year) providing the European charm.

Veterans of the Grand Prix will find many changes, designated trailer parking, greater attention to gridding cars of similar performance and age. In paddock amenities such as VSCCA headquarters with driver registration, race information and results, dedicated paddock and race related audio system, lunches, Saturday evening dinner, an honorary Historic Racing Champion and more will make you and your cars, the Stars of the Grand Prix, feel more welcome and celebrated.

As all who have attended in the past know, the city and people of Pittsburgh are wonderful hosts and the venue is the best public street course racing in the USA. Your performance will thrill the spectators while it helps to support the two important charities involved with the Grand Prix, The Autism Society of Pittsburgh and the Allegheny Valley School.
Monaco Historics are more than a year away, Goodwood Festival of Speed requires a personal invitation from The Earl of March and the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix has a limited, select field of Historic motorcars. Mark your calendar now and apply early for this not- to-be-missed event. See you in Pittsburgh.

Best,

Dave
