The Empire Cup
May 31st and June 1st, 2019
A Celebration of The Iconic Sports Racer
As a result of a very successful Sports Racer contingent in 2018, the Empire Cup will again be celebrating the Sports Racers of the 1950’s and 1960’s by offering a dedicated grid. It has become almost impossible to find events in the Northeast that have so many of these unique gems to race exclusively with.
Remember; two full days of racing, plenty of unmuffled track time (at least 7 track sessions over the 2 days)and a great Friday evening party at the track for everyone
Of course, this is an event with other VSCCA grids as well. Last year, we reached the track limit on under 2 liter so register early to avoid disappointment.
John Schieding is donating the Hummel Brothers special hot dogs or as we like to call them HotDogO’dourves. All drivers and crew are invited. However; volunteers are still needed to help with this gathering. As this dinner is free for everyone, donations in the form of wine, beer and sodas will be gratefully accepted. If you can’t bring a beverage to the dinner think of adding an extra donation to your entry fee to help offset the cost to the club. The club does have to pay for all of the extras at the dinner. We would like this dinner to be a social event. Meet your fellow drivers, corner marshals and friends to talk about the days racing.
This event does have timing and scoring using Transponders. You will be gridded by corner workers. Finishing position from the race before will be your grid position for the next race. Remember this is an open exhaust event, (your car does not need to be muffled). In past years each group was able to get on the track three or four times each day. We will try to repeat this again this year. There will be a class for non-VSCCA (post-1959) closed wheel race-cars. You can enter both your VSCCA car and a later closed wheel 1960’s – 70s race car. As always please get your entries in early. Last year we did have to turn away entries.
Camping is available Thursday night and Friday night with bath and shower facilities on the grounds. The snack bar will be available for breakfast and lunch. Many of the best parties are at the track at night. Jaguar club does have a non-race school which you can enter a spouse or older child or friend. Call Charles Bordin.
